Emily’s Story:

From Fear to Safety

What started as one student helping another quickly turned into a nightmare for Emily. Messages of "If you don’t love me, I will kill you" left her terrified, trapped, and unsure where to turn.

Thankfully, Emily found YWCA Greater Lafayette. Our advocates helped her navigate the legal system, secure a protective order, and regain her sense of safety not only on campus but in all aspects of how a young woman should conduct her life personally and professionally. 

YWCA Greater Lafayette’s work often involves confronting difficult, heartbreaking, and complex situations. It’s about standing alongside people in their darkest moments, offering hope, and being a beacon of support when it feels like there’s nowhere else to turn. These are raw, real human experiences that don’t always fit neatly into words. However, there is hope and resilience.  Emily’s story inspires action and shows how YWCA Greater Lafayette helps individuals reclaim that power.
